Weigh in 26/01/2012

I maintained this week which was really unexpected as I had been good with food and upped my water intake (1.5 litres a day) I had also done plenty of walking (at least 21 miles) so I am not sure what has gone wrong.

So the plan for this week is to continue with the good food intake and also continue to drink plenty of water and to continue with my walking. From Thursday I have nine days off work and I plan to get on my bike unless we have ice or snow, if the bike is not possible then the Just Dance workouts will resume.

I had been toying with the idea of joining a gym but it seems a lot of money to spend when I have a bike, my legs and the outdoors.

I am also going to give this local initiative a call to see if they can help me with the exercise part of losing weight. I do struggle with motivation for this as I really hate doing it and am also concerned of people pointing and laughing, which I know shouldn't bother me because really most of the time this is an insecurity in my own mind and no one else even notices me, I ain't that special!!! I did sign up to the initiative before but what they offered me a lot of psychological work which I felt didn't benefit me so hopefully this time I will be able to get something more suited to me, plus I am more motivated to reach my goals this time. Does you locla area have any initiatives? If so have you tried them? What did you think?

  1. I've tried local groups in the past but not with this weight loss. The reasons are ones I've posted about before. Most of the groups tend to be older women, some of whom hate men and make disparaging comments. I always felt as if I was breaking into an all-girls club and I wasn't really fitting in or wanted. So there wasn't much "support" in it for me. Most of the psychological stuff is stuff I've heard ad nauseum many times before and is not helpful to me at this stage of the game (I ought to be GIVING the talks, not receiving them!). But having said all of that, if you can find a local group that fits for you and helps, I believe they can be vital. It isn't weight loss, but with my running group, I find it to be very motivating and helpful. The advice there IS new to me and the people are friendly and inspiring to me. If there are weight loss groups that are similar to this, then I think they could be a great asset to you.

    1. The initiative has lots of different elements but I don't want the slimming group aspect, they actually offer free Slimming World (the plan I am following) for 12 weeks but I know that doesn't work for me. It seems to have improved when I last went, I only lasted a couple of weeks as i was basically told I had to eat 2000 calories a day, eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, drink more water and exercise. It felt like I was being treated as an idiot which I am not I'm fat not stupid! I think I know what I need more now so I can discuss with them to get what I want out of it

  2. I don't think anything has gone wrong. You've exercised and you've eaten and drank well. You might not have seen a loss but your body is 100% benefitting from you doing good things! Enjoy your 9 days off! (Jealous!!)

  3. Well done for excercising and drinking lots of water! Even if your not seeing results straight away keep at it. I've been eating healthy and excercising and have lost nothing this week but I know if I keep at it I'll have lost something next week!
