Typing up the last few days menu all at once made me realise I need to look at varying my diet as I am eating the same things and I don’t want to get bored of what I’m eating as I am more likely to fail. So for the next week I am going to try and eat cereal for breakfast. I am also going to get some variation in the fruits that I eat as I have eaten a lot of grapes this week.

Harvest Morn less than 70 calories Chocolate Orange bar

Today I thought I would review one of the new products that I have tried, the Harvest Morn less that 70 kcals cereal bar in Chocolate Orange. This product can be bought from Aldi for £1.29 for this you will get 6 bars each weight 21g.
The packaging

Each bar comes wrapped

The product is described as cereal bars with rice and wheat flakes, oats, dried apple, sweetened orange peel and chocolate flakes drizzled with a chocolate flavoured coating. The pictures below will show you what the bar looks like.

The bar looks like most cereal bars and you can see all the rice and wheat flakes and oats which is what most of the bar consists of. The chocolate flavoured drizzled doesn't cover much of the surface of the bar, but I guess anymore would put the calories up.

Nutritional information per bar is as follows:

If you are following the Slimming World plan these bars work out at 3 syns.

Now onto the taste. The orange of the bar is the prominent flavour of the bar and for me it is a lot sweeter than what I would like. I feel they could have used unsweetened orange peel to give it more of a bitter citrus taste. The top ingredient of this product is oligofructose syrup which I figured was the reason the bars are so sweet. I googled it as I had never heard of it before, please see this link to read what it is. I couldn't find any negative articles.

The less than 70 calories cereal bars also come in Apple and Sultana.

This bar controlled my craving for something sweet, however, for me it didn't hit the spot like chocolate does but at 3 syns it is extremely good value. I am going to try the others to see if they are less sweet.

Please see ingredients and allergy information below.

I would really recommend shopping in Aldi their fruit and veg are outstanding value as are their meats. I don't enjoy shopping in Asda as it's always so busy but at the moment they do have some really good offers on. Those of you doing Slimming World need to stock up on Quorn sausages and Laughing Cow triangles.

First night shift on diet and new scales

    Hi,

Hope everyone who reads this is doing ok. It's currently 3.39am and I don't finish work till 9am.

I am going to try and upload a new video tonight whilst at work, this is from my shopping trip on Tuesday. I bought a new pair of scales from boots costing £25.53. See pictures below.

I decided to get these because they were compact and Salter is a good make of scales.

I am unsure how much weight I have lost but have lost an inch off my hips and a 1/2 inch off my waist in the last week and people have commented that I look like I have lost weight.

I have now weighed myself on the new scales and will add this to the 2lb I lost in my first week when my scales appeared to have been working. However, I do weigh heavier on these scales. To check the accuracy of them I asked my Dad to weigh himself as he had been weighed at the hospital on the 12th January, he was 14stone 8lbs at the hospital and 14stone 5lbs on my scales. It is possible he has lost 3lbs since the 12th January but I feel these are now accurate enough. When I weighed myself I did my starting weight three times and each time it was the same.

My night shifts are what I have been worried about because I usually stock up on sugary and high fat snacks to get me through, my favourites being chocolate biscuits with cups of tea and salt and vinegar crisps.Sometimes I would feel so sick after eating them but would still continue to do so. No wonder my energy levels are so low. My job involves doing site patrols so I have made sure I do more of these as I get my exercise in from the walking.

Tonight's food is a mullerlight vanilla yoghurt, a punnet of grapes (red and white) and an alpen light cereal bar. If you are on Slimming World I highly recommend the alpen light bars, two of these are one healthy extra choice B and come in: Chocolate and fudge; Apple and Sultana; Chocolate and Orange and Summer Fruits. I have never seen the Chocolate and Orange ones in any shop but of the other three my favourite is Summer Fruits, I have included a picture below.

Each bar contains less that 70 calories
I have also began to drink more water as this was recommend on Youtube by mszeineb and my skin has started to clear up, here I am on Youtube having a moan about the spots.

Hope your diets are going well.

    Bathroom scales!

As the title says this post is about bathroom scales. My weigh in is tomorrow but I couldn't help but have a cheeky weigh in this morning as I'd been good all week no blips like last week so was expecting at a 3lb weighloss, well imagine my dismay when I saw I had put on 1lb! Well I thought this isn't right so got off and got on again to be told I have now lost 5lbs. So I am now really worried about weigh in and what my correct weight is. I have a pair of weight watchers scales which I bought about 18months ago, I would show a link but I can't find them for sale anywhere! Maybe this is a sign I should not trust them.

Has anyone got any recommendations for scales that I can buy? Also, does anyone get weighed at their Doctors? I'm wondering if it's worth booking an appointment to see if they do it at the surgery.

    Yay I have one follower

Thanks to Zineb for being my first follower, I hope to get more soon and if there is anyone out there reading this please follow my blog.

So the diet is going really well this week I have cooked plenty of nice fresh meals including spaghetti bolognese, a full English breakfast and pasta with tomato and vegetables. I have eaten out once this week at Harvesters where I had a lot of salad from their salad cart and roast chicken with jacket potato and corn on the cob.

I am now back at work for four days, I have a really funny shift pattern, however, do get a week off every four weeks :) I struggle at work because I am quite often bored and when I'm bored I want to eat, therefore, I am blogging instead! I have already eaten my pasta that a brought with me and have a mullerlight for later on. I have four hours to go before I go home.

I am looking for ideas of what I can do with fillet of pork, I bought some whilst out shopping for my Gran and realised I'm not sure what to do with it. I would love comments on what I could cook.

    Aubergine Dip

    Hi,

I made this for the first time today, for the recipe please click here I halved the recipe.

    Aubergine and garlic

Slice Aubergine in half and add cloves of garlic. Season with salt and pepper and roast in an oven on 180C for 25-30 minutes

    mint, lemon and Greek yoghurt

Mash up Aubergine and roasted garlic

Squeeze in lemon juice and add Greek Yoghurt

Mix together with some chopped mint and season to taste

There you have it your finished Aubergine dip

The dip is nice, however, I feel there was too much garlic for my tastes. It was simple and easy to make. I will be eating it tomorrow so will let you know how it goes when it's cold. It doesn't look appetising but apart from it being too garlicky it's delicious.

    My small shopping haul

I did a small shop in Tesco today, the picture below shows the items that I got.

    My grocery haul

Here are what everything cost me in my local Tesco, I am unsure if prices fluctuate between stores or not. Those in bold are currently on offer.

    Soda Water £0.48 x2
    Chopped Tomatoes £0.33 x4
Mullerlight Multi pack £1.48 (half price)
    Bacon £1.98
    Quorn Sausages £2.10
    Mint £0.79
    Cucumber portion £0.40
    Carrot £0.12 (£0.74 per Kg)
    Cous Cous £0.61
    Light Choices Fromage Frais £0.90
    Oxo Cubes £1.07 x2 (on offer 2 for £1.50)
    Italian Seasoning £0.38
    Cooked Ham £1.45
    Wholemeal Loaf £0.72
    Fusilli Twists £0.81

My small shopping haul cost £18.27 which is OK considering a lot of the things I have bought are branded items. I do feel that the quorn sausages are so expensive, however, I am unsure what they retail elsewhere and I cannot get them in my usually supermarket Aldi.

I would love to see anyone else's diet blog, please leave me a link and I will follow.

    Before pictures

These are my before pictures. I am pretty disgusted with myself right now, seeing the numbers on the scales is one thing but actually realising that this is what I look like, what other people have to endure when they see me makes me so embarrassed. I am NEVER going to be this size again!
